Father Jeroom Heyndrickx, CICM is the founder of the Taiwan Pastoral Institute and founding director of the Ferdinand Verbiest Foundation, Leuven Catholic University, Belgium. The foundation is devoted to the promotion of a relationship of cooperation with China. He served as Vicar General of his Religious Congregation in Rome from 1974-1981.

       In 1981 he assumed the directorship of the CICM China Program. He is a noted sinologist who has lectured in various Chinese universities. He is also the author of numerous articles on China and the Church in China, the editor of Historiography of the Chinese Catholic Church: Nineteenth and Twentieth Centuries.
